Family of late musician Chelele begs for food and school fees for her daughters

The family of the late Kalenjin musician Diana Chemutai Musila aka Chelele has come out for the first time to share update on her daughter’s well-being.

During an interview with kalenjin YouTuber, VJ MASTERMIND, their grandmother narrated the struggles of raising the twins – Sasha and Tasha – after Chelele was killed in cold blood in 2016.

“When their mother was alive, we lived comfortably. I didn’t have any problem at all, because she provided for all of us.”

“After her death, the kids became mine. Now they have grown, they think am their mother.”

“They love education and they’ve have been going to school at Kapkwen, until recently when we relocated back to our ancestral home.”

According to their grandmother, Sasha mumbi and Tasha mwende were forced out of a private school after the sponsor who was paying school fees ended his gesture.

The two, Sasha and Tasha currently school at a public school known as Salaik Primary School in Bomet County. They’re in class 8 and will be sitting for KCPE this year.

“I decided it is not good to continue pressing other people to help pay fees, when they are also going through though times gathering for their children’s needs,” their granny explained.

She added that her greatest wish is to see Sasha and Tasha continue with education until they succeed.

Speaking on Chelele’s songs income, her sister Beatrice clarified that the family has never received any money since she died.

“We were told her YouTube account was hacked, so we have never received the money from it. It would be helping her kids,” she noted.

She said the family is having difficulty in providing for the twins, especially that none of them has stable income source.

“With the tough economic times, their grandma can’t fully provide food and school fees for them. But when I have some money, I send to help them.”

“We asks Kenyans to help us with food and school fees for Sasha and Tasha,” Beatrice begged.

Renowned Kalenjin musician was murdered on January 7, 2016 in Kapkwen, Bomet County. Her estranged husband Eric Musila was linked to her death.

The vernacular artite’s family had hopes that justice would be served but in 2019, Musila was acquitted of killing her.
