Nairobi man in Court for beating dad, threatening to chase him out of his own house

Following a fight at their house in Obama Estate in the Njiru sub-county, a 22-year-old man struck his father with a table and yelled insults at him.

Lazaro Wanguu was injured on Saturday, June 3 as a result of Derrick Musau pushing and banging a table.

Wanguu was reportedly seated in the home when his son came in bearing a cup of tea and began yelling epithets at him, according to Nairobi News.

Musau attempted to beat his mother in response to his question about the issue, which prompted the complainant to step in and stop him.

Musau cursed his father as he left the house, threatening to spill the tea on him and threatening to expel him from the house.

After Wanguu informed the Obama Police Station of the incident, his son was taken into custody.

The boy was presented for arraignment before Makadara Magistrate’s Court Principal Magistrate Eric Mutunga.

According to Section 95 (1) of the Penal Code, Musau was accused of causing a commotion that was likely to lead to a breach of the peace.

Additionally, he was accused of violating Section 95 (1) (a) of the Penal Code by using abusive words in a way that was likely to lead to a disturbance.

Since Musau pleaded guilty to the charges, the neighbors of Musau who heard the noise were included as witnesses in the court but will not be required to testify.

Mutunga remanded Musau in custody until Friday, June 9, when the prosecution will present its case against him before he is convicted and sentenced.
