On Wednesday, May 17, Lawrence Njuguna, alias DJ Fatxo was acquitted of murder charges in Jeff Mwathi’s death probe.
According to his lawyer Dancun Okac, the ODPP has recommended an inquest into the death of Jeff Mwathi, who was found dead in DJ Fatxo’s Kasarani apartment.
In a press statement issued to the press on Wednesday, Okach said the DPP had recommended that the matter be taken to an inquest.
“We are acting for Mr Lawrence Njuguna popularly known as DJ Fatxo, our client has been at the centre of extensive and thorough investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations since the unfortunate death of his friend Mr Jeff Mwathi,” Okach said in the letter.
Adding:
“We are pleased to say that we now know that the Director of Public Prosecutions has indeed looked into the matter and has agreed with the findings and recommendations of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, namely that there is not a single shred or iota of evidence to suggest any remote criminal culpability or suspicion on the part of our client.”

I know that this has been a difficult time for many people, and I want to acknowledge the pain and hurt that has been caused by these accusations.
I also want to take this opportunity to clear my name and to assure you all that I have been found not guilty after thorough investigations by the DCI detectives and the ODPP.
While I am relieved to have this behind me, I know that there are still people who may be struggling with feelings of anger, frustration, and disappointment.
I want to use this situation to remind all of us of the importance of not jumping to conclusions or cyberbullying anyone based on mere accusations or hearsay stories.
