After former Starehe MP Jaguar and friends raised KSh 1 million for him, Colonel Mustafa found it difficult to contain his tears.
On May 11, the two had a news conference during which Jaguar revealed that friends had come together to raise money to support the struggling ex-musician.
Mustafa previously said that his mother’s medical care consumed all of his financial resources. After a video showing him working on a construction site went viral, he spoke up.
Some celebrities who raised the money include Jalang’o, Nameless, Ringtone, King Kaka, Willy M Tuva, Governor Johnson Sakaja, KRG The Don, Kriss Darlin, Robert Burale, Chipukeezy and Big Ted. Numerous entrepreneurs also chipped in.
Jaguar disclosed that he knew Mustafa way before becoming a musician.
“Mustafa knew me when I was a young man. He is the one who told me where Ogopa Studio was.
There is no day he told me he was in need because I would have come to his rescue. He is our brother, and we formed a group with other friends and raised almost a million.”
Jaguar said they would visit Mustafa’s mother on Tuesday, May 16, to give her the money.
“We did not help him so that we could be seen in the media.”
The former legislator dismissed notions that they might not give Mustafa the money.
“Most people in the group knew Mustafa from way back. We want him to resume making music.”
He further advised young people to make hay while the sun still shines.
Mustafa got emotional recounting his financial struggles.
“I sold my car to carter for mum’s treatment and made a music video, but the song flopped.
I worked as a construction worker for a year. I tried. I would wear a hoodie and hide my tattoo. I would always walk with a mask to hide my identity,” he said.
