The National Police Service (NPS) has announced plans to conduct a nationwide recruitment of police constables on November 17, 2025.
The exercise aims to boost the country’s security services and enhance policing capacity across all regions.
In a notice issued by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, the NPS stated that the recruitment will take place concurrently in all counties at 422 designated centres, with applicants expected to report to their respective venues by 8:00 a.m.
To ensure transparency and fairness, the process will be supervised by senior police officers and representatives from relevant government agencies.
The Inspector General further emphasised that the recruitment will be free and merit-based, urging applicants to avoid engaging with individuals promising favours or shortcuts.
The announcement follows a High Court ruling declaring that the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) lacks the authority to recruit, train, promote, or dismiss members of the police service — powers that constitutionally belong to the Inspector General, as outlined in Article 245 of the Constitution.
