Rapper Colonel Mustafa has further revealed more details about his current troubles.
This comes after a video showing him working on a construction site surfaced online.
The video went viral on various social media platforms, including TikTok.
Colonel Mustafa while speaking to Eve Mungai has confirmed that he is indeed the person in the video, but he claims to have no knowledge of how the video was taken or leaked.
According to him, he has been working in a mjengo for the last one year, and he has tried very much to keep it as a secret.
“Things have been a bit tough, which forced me to disappear a little from social media as things were not good.
It’s been five years since I released music. Now I am back. I had depression at some point, like two or three years after I left Nairobi Diaries and things went bad,” he said.
During this period, Mustafa said he tried seeking help from different friends but some of them screenshot his conversation and shared online to shame him.
This further forced him to just struggle on his own to provide for himself and his ailing mum.
“Ni maisha tu. Maisha imekuwa ngumu.
Responding to a question on whether he has benefited from his songs, he said he has never received even a cent from his recording label.
Sijawahi pata hata shilingi moja from the songs,” he painfully narrated.
Colonel Mustafa pleads for help
The rapper is pleading to Kenyans to help him find a sustainable job that will enable him to provide for his ailing mother.
