Due to a high cost of manufacturing, salt producer Kensalt has declared that prices will increase starting on April 15, 2023.
in a declaration. According to Kensalt, the increase was made in order to maintain the supply of the crucial good and satisfy domestic demand.
In a note to customers on Friday, Kensalt General Manager Arpan Roy stated:
“We wish to inform you that due to a continuous rise in the cost of production, we have been forced to increase our prices by Ksh1,000 per ton plus VAT.”
Based in Mombasa, Kenya, Kensalt is one of the biggest salt production facilities in East Africa.
According to estimates, Kensalt holds a 75 percent market share in Kenya and a 50 percent market share in Uganda.
For the first time in a number of years, salt prices are rising nationwide.
