Really emotional day for me to welcome Imran Okoth – MP states
Kamukunji Member of Parliament (MP) Yusuf Hassan on Tuesday shared his feelings on seeing the Late Ken Okoth’s brother Imran Okoth taking the oath of office for Kibra constituency National Assembly representative.
In a tweet, MP Yusuf noted that he was proud that the people of Kibra chose a representative ho could continue the late Ken’s work.
“Really emotional day for me to welcome Imran Okoth, the new MP for Kibra, to parliament, and to know for sure that the legacy of my late friend and parliamentary colleague Kenneth Okoth will live on. Congratulations Imran Okoth and all the best,” the Kamukunji legislator conveyed.
Imran Okoth takes oath of office
Imran took the oath of office on Tuesday afternoon in the company of Mathare MP Anthony Oluoch and nominated MP Maina Kamanda.
The oath was administered by National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and other chambers staff.
Imran won the Kibra by-election with 24,636 votes against McDonald Mariga’s 11,230 votes.
Other MPs who welcomed Imran into the 12th Parliament are Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Fafi MP Abdikarim Osman.
