One of Kenya’s most rapidly growing comics is Kennedy Odhiambo, often known as Crazy Kennar.
The 24-year-old comedian has become well-known online as a result of his humorous skits that highlight the problems that Kenyans face on a daily basis.
As a hobby, Kennar started making comedic performances and sharing them online. He has amassed a sizable following over time.
Early life
On December 23, 1998, Kennar was born in Nairobi.
Before enrolling at Ringa Boys High School in Homa Bay county, the comedian attended Sacred Heart School in Baba Dogo.
He was accepted to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) to study actuarial science after completing his secondary education.
He has not yet earned his degree from the college or university.
career
The comedian began performing when he was still a small lad in primary school.
He frequently took part in school-sponsored music and theater festivals.
He received the Nairobi County Best Actor Award at the 2011 Kenya National Music and Drama Festivals.
He joined the drama club in high school, where he continued to pursue his love of the performing arts.
He discovered his passion for comedy in high school, and with the help of his theatre teacher, he pursued it, turning it into a full-time profession once he enrolled in JKUAT.
After completing his secondary schooling, he spent a short time working as an informal teacher.
Kennar began his ascent in the comedy world when he enrolled at JKUAT.
With the aid of his brother and other friends, he began filming comedic routines.
“I used to act while my friends filmed. My mother would give me my father’s shirts for me to go and film with. And my father would also raid my mother’s closet and give me her skirts to go shoot with,” Citizen Digital quoted him.
On July 24, 2017, he began posting his videos to his Tales of Crazy Kennar YouTube channel.
According to Bizna Kenya, the comedian serves as the company’s chief executive officer. The Tales of Crazy Kennar has 11 employees.
He publishes content using the network on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, and YouTube.
He claims to have had over 138 million views on YouTube.
On Saturday, November 19, 547,000 people were subscribers to his channel.
He also receives compensation for serving as an ambassador for other businesses, including Carrefour Supermarket.
Instant Delicacies
The youthful entrepreneur launched his food joint ‘Instant Delicacies’ on May 25, 2021. The restaurant is located at Juja Square and is frequented by JKUAT students.
The official unveiling of the facility was attended by the who’s who in the entertainment industry.
Among those who graced its launch were Kenyan celebrities Flaqo, Awinja, Cartoon Actress and Alex Mathenge. Alinur Mohammed, a politician, was also in attendance.
During the launch, Kennar said the restaurant would specialise in fast foods and Swahili dishes.
“My inspiration to start the restaurant was to open job opportunities for my fellow young people to enable positive growth in society. I believe in people growing together and supporting one another,” he said.
Kazi App
Kennar is the proprietor of the Kazi App, launched on November 19, 2021. The app connects jobless Kenyans to employment opportunities.
It aims at solving rampant unemployment in Kenya, which according to World Bank, stands at 5.7%.
The Word Bank report showed the rate more than doubled from 2.8% reported in 2013 when former president Uhuru Kenyatta took office.
Cars
At just 24, Kennar is a proud Toyota Prado TX vehicle owner.
According to the online car website Best Cars, the luxurious ride’s price starts from KSh 5.5 million.
Kennar uses the car with his crew to move around, shooting skits in different places across the city.
