Prior to two years ago, when they learned how to manage their finances, filmmaker Abel Mutua and his wife Judy have confessed to wasting their money while working at for Citizen TV.
Abel said they both gained money in a recent Q & A on Joy Ride Podcast, but they were unable to explain what they did with their millions.
While still a student, Abel began working at Tahidi High for Citizen TV.
“We have fumbled with finances for a decade, we can’t lie about that,” he said.
“We got financial literacy in 2020. That was the first time I managed to save my first salary. The worst bit is that I can’t sit here and lie that we never used to make money, we made money.”
Abel said he spent most of the money helping friends.
“One problem that we had was the Messianic complex where you feel like you want to save everyone. You get like Sh 200k and in less than three weeks, it is finished.”
The actor said he and his wife went through a short course, which helped them get their finances in check.
During the interview, Abel also talked about struggling with his memory, where he forgets things very quickly.
He gave the example of a time when he left his car running and a time when he withdrew cash and left it at the ATM.
When he remembered, he came back and found that the cash was already gone.
