Azimio leader Raila Odinga has revealed that there were failed attempts to end his life.
In a detailed video, Raila says he survived by the grace of God and the mercy of good samaritans.
“They have been following. They attacked me outside my house and I was admitted to Nairobi hospital.
I later got information that they were looking for me so I took off through the grace of the Catholic church.
A Catholic father Mark Opiyo and sister Diane took me in.
I was given the name father Augustine and I had to wear a collar. from Machakos that is the name I had been given.”
Adding;
“We passed through different road blocks until we got to Kisumu.”
In the evening I was transferred to Langala Mission.
I was taken to a house where no one knew.”
Raila says he was lucky enough to get a lift from some businessmen.
“I was taken to a beach named Chirongo, I boarded a night shift boat to an island where I met a guy named Robert.
They would bring timber to Kenya and go back with manufactured products. They are the people who gave us rides.”
Baba says they traveled at night until they got to Uganda. at around 3:00 am. Baba says he was given the alias Joseph Ojiwa.
“I spent some time in Kampala and with the help of friends, I got an air ticket. They (assassins) were still looking for me and I had to adapt to a Muslim name (Haji Omar.
I boarded a flight from Entebbe from Amsterdam then to Norway.”
Raila left many worried after photos of him with a swollen face emerged.
The photos emerged after former President, Uhuru Kenyatta paid the Azimio leader a courtesy visit at his Karen home.
Uhuru was also accompanied by his firstborn son Jomo.
Raila’s face seems to be swollen and Kenyans were worried. His nose and lips were also showing signs of bruising.
