Martha Koome says it took God’s intervention for Supreme Court to uphold Ruto’s victory

According to Chief Justice Martha Koome, the Supreme Court’s decision to affirm William Ruto’s triumph required a divine intervention.

Speaking in North Imenti, Meru County, the head of the judiciary acknowledged the role that God played in the decision that dismissed a petition filed by Raila Odinga, Ruto’s main rival.

Koome, Philomena Mwilu, Isaac Lenaola, Mohamed Ibrahim, William Ouko, Smokin Wanjala, and Njoki Ndung’u, the judges of the supreme court, all unanimously concluded that the electoral commission successfully held a free and fair presidential election.

Koome claimed that the court made an impartial decision.

“The entire Africa and even the world is saying they are looking upon Kenya for leadership and also independent institutions, especially the institution of the Judiciary.

“This is not because of power, this is not because of my might…it is because of the faithful God that we serve,” she said.

Reading out the Supreme Court judgment, Koome dismissed Raila and other petitioners’ evidence as hot air and hearsays.

Ruto will be sworn in on Tuesday next week at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi.
