How former Switch TV journalist makes 40K monthly as a Hairdresser after being fired

A news anchor who lost his job due to the pandemic started a hair salon and is now successful in the beauty industry.

When he was fired from Switch TV, where he worked as a news anchor and a producer, Emmanuel Terer reached his lowest point.

He told Nation Africa that despite people making fun of him for his current work, he had made the decision to give the hair and beauty sector a try.

Despite the fact that the work is typically viewed as a woman’s, Terer said he takes pride in it because it helps him pay his bills.

The journalist stated that he began learning hairdressing while still in elementary school and that after graduating from high school, his parents were unable to pay for his future studies.

Before being hired as a television personality, he first found employment at a beauty school where he developed his skills.

Terer returned to hairdressing after losing his TV job, and a buddy who owns a salon agreed to hire him.

Terer currently serves five or more clients each day and earns up to Ksh1,500 per customer.

Along with massage, he offers manicures and pedicures and makes at least Ksh40,000 a month.

Under the “Wosia Wa Terer” brand, Terer also creates brief videos that he hosts on his social media accounts. In addition to this, he also sells shoes for women.

Terer is one of several journalists who, after leaving media organizations, successfully founded and operated their own enterprises.

These journalists, including Zain Verjee, Hilary Ng’eno, and Hussein Mohamed, demonstrated that leaving a formal job to launch one’s own business can be a significant accomplishment for anyone interested in entrepreneurship. Even better is when the business is doing well for itself.

They have demonstrated that media professionals can be successful both on screen and in their own enterprises.
