Tanzanian bongo artist Raymond Shaban Mwakyusa commonly known as Rayvanny is a Tanzanian bongo is trending on social media after ‘murdering’ English language.
Rayvanny posted on his page, saying “meet me 22th this month.”
This came as a shocker to several of his fans who wondered how he could not understand such simple English.
One person commented “Aisee kwani kingereza umekiacha wasafi?”
A few months ago, his former boss Diamond Platinumz was also the talk of town after speaking broken English during the Netflix’s reality series Young, Famous and African in Kenya.
In one of the scenes, Diamond was having a conversation with South African songwriter Nadai Nakai when she asked his age.
“How old are you?” she asked. Diamond hesitated a bit then she added “Why do you have to think about it?”
The Nawaza singer then responded, “No, I’m not thinking about it. I am just untying my buttons. I am 31st.”
The statement divided netizens as some argued that it was scripted while others said English should not be used to gauge intelligence.
Wasafi Exit
A few days ago, Rayvanny officially left Diamond Platnumz’s Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) records Tanzanian.
Rayvanny made the announcement on Tuesday saying that he is now focused on his record label “Next Level Music” and is looking forward to growing music talent.
In a two minute video Rayvanny paid a glowing tribute to his former boss Diamond Platnumz thanking him for giving him an opportunity to show his talent to the world.
“It has now been six years since we started working together, my team, my family WCB Wasafi, we have been driven by love and unity. I have learnt a lot and we have achieved a lot together. I was the first artiste to win a BET award, also the first artiste from east Africa to obtain 100,000,000 view plays on Boomplay. All these happened while we were together. My heartfelt gratitude to my family at Wasafi but most especially to my brother Diamond Platnumz, for giving me an opportunity for the world to see my talent,” Rayvanny said.
