After a protracted absence, Joseph Irungu, better known by his stage name Jowie, has rejoined social media.
The murder suspect disappeared for a while from Instagram with his most recent post being made in November 2021.
On July 13, 2022, Irungu made a social media comeback by posting on Instagram and imitating Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance running mate Martha Karua.
“Harooo wasaredo,” Jowie posted.
Jowie is currently facing murder charges over the brutal killing of entrepreneur Monica Kimani who died on the night of September 19–20, 2018.
Recently, the murder case took a new twist after a detective attached to the case disclosed phone call records of one of the main suspects, Joseph Irungu famously known as Jowie.
Through a testimony in court on Monday, May 9, a police officer attached to the case raised inconsistencies in the phone numbers connected to the case.
The cop told the court that out of the seven numbers linked to the case only four were connected to the matter.
He stated that the four numbers were found to belong to Jowie, former Citizen TV Presenter Jacque Maribe, Ahmed Mustafa, and the deceased businesswoman Monica.
He revealed to the court that Jowie’s number was traced around Kileleshwa on the day Monica’s death was reported at around 9:19 pm. His testimony did not match records that were earlier presented in court that indicated Jowie’s phone was traced around Denis Pritt road on September 19, 2018.
Through more evidence in regard to traced phone call records, the signal of Jowie’s number was at Nairobi Gospel of God Church Valley Road at 11:54 pm.
Later that same night, the phone was traced at Lang’ata Royal Park and then Langata DoD.
The following day, September 20, 2018, Jowie’s number was detected at National Housing Corporation in Madaraka estate.
Three days later, Jowie’s mobile number signal was at Kijabe hospital at around 6:57 pm.
The testimony by the detective further located Jowie’s number from Kijabe Hospital to Gitaru and back to Lang’ata Royal Park estate on September 24, 2018.
Calls from the deceased indicated that she last communicated with Jowie on September 1, from Dennis Pritt Road.
Presiding Judge Grace Nzioka heard that no calls were made from Monica’s phone from September 19, 2018, from 11 pm.
The court was further told that from September 19 only messages were sent from and received by Jowie and it was not clear who they were from or who he sent them to.
More evidence is expected to be presented in court as the family of the deceased continues to cry for justice.
