Deputy President William Ruto has taken a swipe at ODM Leader Raila Odinga, noting that he has not been able to achieve much without his backing.
Speaking in Busia on Friday, DP Ruto revisited the 2007 election, noting that he is the one who campaigned and propelled Odinga to be Kenya’s Prime Minister.
According to Ruto, since his fallout with Odinga during the coalition government, the former Prime Minister has not achieved much success politically.
“Si mimi ndio nilisukuma Agwambo mpaka akakua Prime Minister, nyinyi mliona nikifanyia agwambo campaign 2007 mpaka akakua Prime Minister, mpaka ata nkapelekwa Hague karibu nifungue… Mimi nauliza nyinyi tangu niwache kuskuma Agwambo mumeona amepata kitu ingine yoyote?” he posed.
The DP also took a swipe at Odinga’s former allies under the National Super Alliance (NASA) accusing them of taking the ODM leader for a ride.
Ruto specifically mentioned ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula noting that they have not added any benefit to Raila’s political ambitions.
“Siku ile niliwachia kina Kalonzo, kina Mudavadi, kina Weta si walihangaisha huyo baba… hiyo watu ni watu bure. Tangu niwaachie wamesukuma huyo baba wamemfikisha mahali popote?” Ruto said.
Meanwhile, there have been reports that Odinga and Ruto could work together ahead of 2022; though none of the leaders has addressed the issue.
