Vioja Mahakamani Actor Pleads For Help To Raise 6 Million for Kidney Transplant

Another veteran in the Kenyan acting industry is pleading with the public for help.

Gibson Gathu, who acted as a prosecutor in the court drama sitcom Vioja Mahakamani, is appealing to the public to help him raise Ksh 6 million for his kidney transplant scheduled on July 22.

According to the request poster seen by Mkenya Leo, Gibson has been struggling with diabetes for over 20 years. It claimed that the actor’s health deteriorated in November 2020, causing his kidneys to fail.

It revealed that he has since been going for dialysis twice a week, a procedure that has drained him and his family financially.

“Gib has been managing diabetes for 20+ years now; but some time in November 2020 his kidneys failed hence he has been going for dialysis twice a week. This has drained his family financially,” read the post.

Luckily for the veteran actor, he has found a matching donor, and the transplant is scheduled to happen at Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret.

The post revealed that the Ksh 6 million will cater to Gibson’s needs up to post-surgery care.

It said, “he has a donor and the purpose of this is to help him raise medical funds estimated to be between 5-6 million for a kidney transplant scheduled for July 2022 at the Mediheal Hospital, Eldoret. The said amount is inclusive of post-surgery treatment for the recipient.”

Well-wishers are to send their contributions to:

Paybill No: 247247 Account No: 777626 Account Name: Gibson Gathu Mbugua.

Alternatively, they can attend a fundraising event on June 11, 2022, at the City Hall from 2 p.m.

A while back, veteran journalist Leonard Mambo Mbotela had a similar appeal. Mbotela appealed to the public to help raise Ksh 1.1 million to offset his hospital bill.

Fortunately, President Uhuru decided to donate Ksh 1 million while well-wishers contributed the remaining amount.

Veteran actors have been complaining about how Kenyans have neglected them despite entertaining them for years.

We, the Mkenya Leo team, hope Gibson will get the required amount, and we pray for his quick recovery.
