PROFILE: Eric Latiff, the journalist who gave DP Ruto a sleepless night

Eric Latiff is a seasoned media professional and one of the most well-known radio hosts in the nation right now.

On Spice FM, Latiff co-hosts the four-hour morning program “Situation Room” with Njeri Thorne, Dr. Charles Muga, and Nduh Okoh.

The program focuses on important issues that have an impact on society today.

Since its debut, the program has filled a need in the radio business by tackling subjects that have sparked fruitful discussions and become a firm favorite with listeners.

The Situation Room has drawn the attention of numerous of the nation’s top lawmakers as well as other leading thinkers because of its emphasis on current events and truth-focused conversations.

Latiff has more than 20 years of experience working in the media. He has worked as a radio and television producer, manager, presenter, news editor, news anchor, and digital media strategist during his career as a broadcast journalist.

Along with media management, he is interested in creative writing, broadcast engineering, developing and teaching on-air talent, and media production.

He is passionate about how media evolves with societal and technical developments.

The 56-year-old was a digital manager and news reporter at Capital FM before joining Standard Media Group (SMG).

He has also had positions at Family Media, Kameme FM, as a senior anchor at KTN, and as a producer for radio and television.

Latiff was K24’s first Station Manager.

I Run This City, a website that supports devolution, was started by Latiff. The page opens up a line of communication between citizens and counties and encourages participation by allowing netizens to express their individual viewpoints on how the country’s devolution process is going.

He has established himself to become one of the most sought-after journalists in the media industry owing to his versatility cutting across TV, radio, print and digital.

Previously, Latiff has interviewed high profile Kenyans and was part of the journalists selected to the panel interviewing Azimio flagbearer Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua on June 28.

On Tuesday, July 26,  he moderated the Presidential debate between media and UDA candidate William Ruto.

Majority of Kenyans have heaped praises on the journalist after the successful and brilliant debate.
