One of the images that got people talking and laughing was that of the hacker posing with a lit cigarette in his mouth.

Other posts, including videos, are in foreign languages, with the hackers’ penchant for superbikes visible in the selection of posts.

The posts were described by one Kenyan as directly inverse to what the university stands for and hoped that they would be able to recover it soonest possible.

Kabarak University takes action

Kabarak University has since raised an alarm about the cybercriminals.

In a statement sent by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplangat, the misleading information and images contravened the Biblical Christian values of the university.

The VC assured their stakeholders and the general public that necessary measures were being undertaken to take action against the perpetrators.

As a result, the criminals are using it to spread malicious and misleading images and information that are contrary to the Biblical Christian values of Kabarak University.

We want to assure our stakeholders and the general public that we are taking all necessary measures to regain control of our page and prevent any further unauthorized access.

“We urge our followers and prospective students to disregard information posted by these criminals and to contact us directly through our official website or other verified channels.

“It is important to note that any information or advertisements posted on our Facebook page by these criminals do not represent our institution, and we dissociate ourselves from them entirely.

“We understand that this situation has caused significant disruption to our online presence through our Facebook page, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue,” the statement read in part.

The VC affirmed that the university would heighten its cyber security measures to prevent further breaches.

Prior to the notice, Kabarak University sent out a notice, stating that they had surrendered the page to the scammer and had subsequently created another page.

Further, the university promised that action would be taken against the hacker as they would not give in to their demands. As a result, the ICT manager was suspended till further notice.

“Since our official page was hacked, we as the Kabarak University have decided to surrender this page to this scammer and we’ve been ordered to create another page.

“We’ve forwarded this case to the concerned authorities and the action is being undertaken. We do apologize for any inconvenience brought by the malicious act. We’ve decided to suspend the ICT manager till further notice. Follow our new page for new updates from the University,” read part of the statement.

The hacker, who had demanded Ksh68,250 (500 dollars) for the University to regain its account, stated: “I will not return this account, but I challenge all of you to reclaim this account immediately-regards a student from one of Jakarta’s IT-based high schools, (Indonesia).”

Kabarak University is founded on the premise of offering education in a biblical way and the posts by the hackers hilariously contradicted this foundation.

Some tweeps were stunned by the audacity of the hackers to make posts of alcohol bottles, skimpily dressed women on motorbikes and other posts on the page of a Christian University.

The hackers are now demanding 500$ to surrender the page back to the university.

I also have another option, you guys just give me 500$ , and I’ll bring this page back, the offer is cheap for a big university
