IEBC Official who went missing found alive after abduction

A missing member of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been located.

After going missing on August 18, 2022, Mr. Japhet Dibo, a contractor for the electoral commission working in the information and technology (IT) division, was reported missing the next day at Kilimani Police Station under Occurrence Book Number 39/19/08/2022.

There is nothing to worry about, according to Flora Aluoch, Mr. Dibo’s wife, who spoke to Nation.Africa on Saturday.

According to his lawyer, Mr. Trevor Lichuma, Mr. Dibo was seized against his will by unidentified individuals on Thursday around 10 PM and released at 2 PM on Friday.

According to Mr. Lichuma, the family chose to opt out because they were concerned.

“Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are investigating the matter and we hope they will get to the bottom of it all,” said the lawyer.

Mr. Dibo is the owner of the IT business Dial Africa, which has its main office in Nairobi at the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management.

Mrs. Aluoch had previously claimed that her husband, an IT consultant hired by the IEBC for the just completed general election, had left his workplace at the KISM Towers in Nairobi with an unidentified guy and had never come home.

She informed the authorities that her husband had been last seen donning a light blue shirt and a pair of navy blue pants.

Concerns about threats, profiling, and intimidation towards the commission’s staff were voiced by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.
