As their husbands compete for the position of the nation’s top leader, Rachel and Ida stand a good chance of holding the office of the First Lady.
Ruto and Raila have been listed as the top candidates in recent opinion polls conducted by Tifa, Infotrak, and Mizani Africa, with the latter slightly ahead of the former.

A. Ida Odinga
Ida is 71 years old, but she has excellent fashion sense.
She has usually been wearing lovely outfits that precisely suit her and make her look fresh and beautiful while being predominantly African in style.
Ida is the proud mother of four children, including Rosemary and Winnie Odinga. Fidel Castro Odinga and Raila Odinga Jr. (deceased).

Ida has teaching experience and earned her degree from the University of Nairobi in 1974.
She spent more than 20 years as a teacher at various schools, including the Kenya High School.
Rachel Ruto
During her tenure as the second Lady of Kenya, Rachel has been advocating women’s rights and women empowerment programs.
On 17 January 2014, she was awarded the International Honorary Fellowship Award On Women Empowerment at the Binary University in Malaysia.
Through the Joyful Women Organization, she has spurred a table banking initiative throughout Kenya, and spreading to the rest of Africa.
