2021 KCSE Student Walks Over 25 km to Raise fees for University
A student has embarked on a 25-kilometer trip in quest of funding to attend college.
Two weeks before starting university, Jane Nyomenda Ndemo, 18, of Kegogi village in Marani sub-County in Kisii County, stated she hasn’t received any assistance.
Her efforts eventually brought her to the Kisii offices of the Standard Group, where she explained that her family was unable to pay for her studies.
She sat for her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination at Samolel Secondary School in Kericho and scored a grade of C+.
She was admitted to the Faculty of Education at Tom Mboya University in Homa Bay County where she is expected to report by September 5.
“I have achieved part of my academic goals through the help of relatives. However, they too have children. Two of my aunts took me through primary and secondary education,” she said.
Nyomenda said: “Despite the financial challenges I am determined to excel in my academic journey.”
“I pray that someone supports us and have our firstborn daughter join university,” her mother, Florence Kemuma said.
