ODM leader and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has apologized over his ‘madoadoa’ remark during a rally in Wajir.
While speaking in a Kisumu rally, Raila defended himself saying he was misunderstood.
“Mimi nilisema Wajir hakuna chama ngine, hapa Kisumu hakuna madoadoa, Kisumu ni Azimio pia…Kama kuna mtu yeyote ambaye hakunielewa vizuri, ambaye ameona kama kuna makosa, pole sana, pole sana,” Raila said.
Raila has since been summoned by the NCIC to write a statement in regards to the term madoadoa during the Azimio la Umoja rally in Wajir.
Raila told Wajir residents on Wednesday that they should only vote for Azimio la Umoja movement candidates in the upcoming general elections on August 9.
He stated that the movement is comprised of many parties that have banded together to unite the country, thus the need to vote for them.
He went on to say that his remarks differed from Senator Linturi’s remarks at the UDA rally in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu.
Linturi’s comments, he claimed, were directed at specific community members leaving Rift Valley, whereas his were political in nature.
“Mimi nilisema Wajir hakuna chama ngine, hapa Kisumu hakuna madoadoa, Kisumu ni Azimio pia (I said there is no other party in Wajir apart from Azimio),” he said.
His comments drew a retort from DP William Ruto, who claimed that the investigation bodies were hesitant to take action against him.
