Kisumu Man Jailed For 10 Years For Removing Sister-In-Law’s Eyes Using Pliers

A man arrested for harming his sister-in-law has been convicted guilty of the charges leveled against him.

Janet Langa, a widow from Nyaori in Nyalenda, Kisumu county, was viciously assaulted by her late husband’s brother on March 13 after they had a disagreement.

The 40-year-old woman had questioned Isaac Onditi about felling trees at the homestead and not sharing the proceeds with her.

Onditi would then descend on Langa and slap her across the face with a pair of pliers.

“Janet Langa was attacked by her brother-in-law in the Nyaori area, Nyalenda for questioning him why he cut home trees and sold them, but he would not give her any cent.

“The man has not been arrested. The matter was reported to Kasagam Police Station as the mother of three got admitted to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital,” a source said.

The matter was reported at Kasagam Police Station and booked under OB 11/14/03/2023, initiating Onditi’s trial.

Winam Law Courts Principal Magistrate Fatuma Rashid observed that the accused injured Langa severely, leading to her losing her right eye.

She based her verdict on the account given by eight witnesses who elaborated on how the woman sustained the eye injury.
