Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now says that senior economic advisor to the President, Moses Kuria is one of the brightest leaders from the Mt Kenya region.
Speaking on Monday night, Gachagua attributed his remarks to the time Kuria served as Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry.
He said Kuria started the County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs) a project that stalled after he was removed from the ministry and eventually sacked from Cabinet.
“Moses Kuria is one of our brightest leaders from the Mt. Kenya region, and today he is facing problems. When Moses Kuria was Minister for Trade, he was the one who started the County Aggregation and Industrial Parks, a brilliant idea. Since they removed him, that project is stuck,” Gachagua said on KTN.
The former DP insisted that had President William allowed him to stay in the ministry, the CAIPs would be operational today.
He faulted Ruto for dismissing him and then appointing him to serve as his economic advisor.
“Kuria is a brilliant mind and I can tell you this idea of CAIPs that he came up with, had the president allowed him to stay as minister for Investment, Trade and Industry, today, those things would be working.”
Gachagua’s remarks come even as Kuria has previously stated in public that he blames the ex-DP for his own downfall.
According to Kuria, Gachagua should have been more patient and engaged more instead of running away from the commitments they made together with President Ruto.
He said that even in homes, businesses, and government, things are not always rosy and as such, disagreements exist.
“Just a little patience and engagement. I was only a minister; this guy was a privileged guy, and he was chairing Cabinet committees. I am blaming him solely for his own goal. It is not always rosy but we need to be sensitive that it is not only about me,” Kuria said in January.
The former CS insisted that Gachagua should have waited for at least four or five years to end before publicly disagreeing with the President.
“I feel embarrassed to be associated with a community that says unless it is you who is leading. They should at least wait for three or four years, even the five years allowed within our democracy.
“From my community, he was the senior-most member, 10 million people behind him… Rigathi Gachagua has said by the end of this month he is going to have his party, other people are excited, I am not excited,” Kuria said on Citizen TV.
Kuria further noted that Gachagua is still his friend and he never supported his impeachment despite their differences.
