“He was a good friend” – DJ Fatxo mourns late Jeff Mwathi, says he didn’t kill him
Popular Mugithi singer Lawrence Njuguna, better known by his stage name DJ Fatxo, has discussed Jeff Mwathi’s passing more than a year after being connected to the event.
The 28-year-old singer said in an interview with Obinna TV that no one has been charged in relation to the unexplained death of the late Jeff Mwathi.
He clarified that, in contrast to popular belief, nobody was involved in the incident, so the prosecution did not see a need to file a case.
“There was no case. What happened was that after the DCI conducted their investigation, they submitted their file to the DPP for further review. The DPP later determined that there was no case. A case is built in the DPP’s office, then it is taken to court to determine if anyone should be charged,” DJ Fatxo narrated.
Adding:
“In the whole situation, no one was charged because no one did what people were saying. I later came to realize that when the file is not closed at the police station. It is taken to court for a judge to hear from all of you who are presented as government witnesses.
Together with the DCI, who are witnesses, myself who was with him the entire day, and anyone who interacted with him or saw anything of the sort. When it gets there, the judge listens to everyone and finally has the authority to close the file and declare that no one is guilty.”
The Kikuyu musician stressed that he was not at his home when the late Jeff passed away. He mourned the deceased, saying that he lost a very good friend.
“He was a very good friend. If I take you to my home after a night out, it means that I care about you. People were very harsh and quick to judge me.
No one sat down to see that I was mourning the most. I personally lost a friend but people came and started talking a lot. God knows everything,” he said.
Jeff lost his life on February 22, 2023, after falling from the 12th floor of Redwood Apartments in Kasarani, where DJ Fatxo was living.
