Public Service and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has said his ministry will soon unveil the ‘Jobo Bila Connection initiative’ portal.
The CS said the portal will help Kenyans apply for jobs in the public sector regardless of their background.
“In the public sector, we are going to lead from the front in being an equal opportunities employer. We will soon develop a portal for all Kenyans to apply for jobs in the public sector regardless of their background dubbed the Jobo Bila Connection initiative,” he said.
“The youth unemployment matter should be a concern for all of us because we are not safe unless all of us are safe.”
Kuria spoke on Friday during the 27th Institute of Human Resource Management Annual National Conference in Naivasha.
The CS appealed to the private sector to complement the government’s efforts in the provision of internship opportunities.
He said in this financial year the government plans to recruit 20,000 interns up from 3000 in the last financial year.
“The government can’t resolve the youth unemployment issue alone so we are appealing to our private sector to partner with us in resolving this crisis. As H.E. President Dr William Ruto committed, the government will issue incentives to organisations that will offer our youth internship opportunities,” he said.
CS Kuria said the country is currently facing a great crisis of youth unemployment.
He appealed to the Human Resource professionals to give everybody an equal opportunity.
“Ultimately, we are what we are because someone took a chance on us,” he said.
He said the government is cognizant of the fact that human capital is the greatest asset of the country.
CS Kuria said they have agreed with the Head of Public Service Felix Koskei to issue a mandatory requirement for all HR Officers in public service to be members of the International Human Resource Management (IHRM).
He said the move will go a long way in professionalising the Human Resource function in government.
He added that the Kenya Internship and Jobs Initiative (KIJI) platform will be hosted by IHRM.
Leaders present included PS State Department for Public Service Amos Gathecha.
