“Nashikwa kama mbwa” – Gaucho cries over arrests, threatens to quit Azimio

Bunge la Wananchi president Calvin Okoth alias Gaucho has recently stated that if things do not change, he may no longer engage in Azimio Coalition-led protests.

After being arrested, the Bunge la Wananchi President complained that he was treated unfairly by the coalition and that no one cared about him.

He said that he hopes the negotiations go ahead because if they don’t and the protests are called off, he might not be able to participate.

Gaucho spoke outside the Kiambu Law Courts on Wednesday.

“I really pray to God the bi-partisan talks work. Because if they fail and there is a call for demos again, then I will just wish the Azimio team well going forward,” Gaucho said.

He said the unfair treatment has deeply bothered him, thus sending the message to the key principals in Azimio.

Gaucho said when former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga was in custody, Azimio Chief Principles went to see and help him.

“But when I am arrested it seems like a stray dog is being taken to the police station. How does it work? Must I bear the name Njoroge for people to come to my rescue?” he posed.

He said almost 30 of his Bunge la Wananchi members are currently being held in the Industrial area while others have already been locked in Kamiti prison yet no one is stretching a helping hand to them.

“If I, who is popular is pleading so much to get released, what of fellow Bunge la Wananchi members who are not popular? ” he posed.

Gaucho called for fairness from other Azimio key principals adding that the only genuine person in the coalition is Raila Odinga.

He said those close to Raila fear that they could be stripped of their political mileage because of his presence in the coalition.

When some of his Bunge la Wananchi members were arrested in Jacaranda, Gaucho said it was Embakasi East MP Babu Owino who put in the effort to help.

“Other Azimio leaders were saying some individuals are not as important. These people are close to Raila,” he said.

Gaucho noted that recently, former President Uhuru Kenyatta had requested an audience with him but no one has come out to facilitate their meeting, yet everyone is aware he cannot be allowed to approach Uhuru as he wishes.

“Had it been Raila seeking an audience with a Kamau, his meeting with Raila would already have been facilitated,” he said.
