The mother of two said, in an interview with Mpasho’s writer Elizabeth Ngigi, that she hasn’t been told when the body will be exhumed.

She also refuted allegations that her son’s cemetery is guarded that were spreading on social media.

“If we will get justice by exhuming his body, I am at peace with that. I feel okay since even if he is not exhumed, we still don’t have him.

There is nobody guarding my son’s grave. We are the ones doing that. We are hopeful to God that my son will get justice so that his soul can rest,” she said.

In February, Jeff Mwathi passed away and was buried a week later.

She claimed that even after he is buried, investigations would still be conducted.

“After he died, we reported everything. Took an OB, and the authorities told us to proceed with burial arrangements. They told us that the police will continue with their investigations even after he is buried since we had already done the postmortem.”

Detectives plan to exhume the body of interior designer Geoffrey Jeff Mwathi’s body as part of the ongoing probe into his death.

Inspector General of police Japhet Koome on Sunday said they have found gaps in the incident and hence need to exhume the body to help their probe.

He said police are doing thorough investigations to ensure justice in the case.

“We will have that body exhumed look at the dimensions on where he is said to have passed at the window to drop to the ground floor. We are moving to court to seek an order for the exhumation,” Koome said.

Koome spoke at his office in Nairobi and warned anyone found responsible for the murder will face the full force of the law.

“Anyone found culpable will be held accountable,” he said.
