The National Safety and Transport Authority (NTSA) announced new generation number plates for boda boda riders across the country.
In a statement released on Friday, January 27, the authority detailed how the riders should apply for the plates costing Ksh1,550.
“New generation plates for motorcycles, share widely,” read the post in parts.
All applicants were advised to visit the authority’s website, www(dot)ntsa(dot)go(dot)ke, to apply for the new plates.
Once on the website, the applicant should select vehicle registration and apply for the reflective plate.
After selecting the reason, the applicant should select the notification method, for example, SMS. The applicant should then proceed to pick the number plate and format.
NTSA recommended the boda riders select square compared to oblong and square for motorists.
Subsequently, the rider should then upload in Portable Document Format (PDF) the original logbook and plate for the rear, unlike motorists who are required to produce plates for the rear and front.
Afterwards, the applicant should select their preferred collection centre and enter the National Identification Number (ID) of the person to collect the plate.
Conclusively, proceed to pay Ksh1,550 and await a collection notification via SMS.
The new generation number plates will be harmonised with the taxman system to boost the revenue collected.
