Kenyan Celebrities mourn untimely demise of model Edwin Chiloba

Journalist Chris Makena Njeri led Kenyans in mourning fashion model Edwin Chiloba, who was brutally murdered in Eldoret on December 31, 2022.

“Edwin the news of your brutal death sent chills down my spine. You didn’t deserve that pain, you didn’t deserve to die. This is a hate crime it and it sickens me that this is how we start this year. Yet another tragic loss for the queer community in Kenya, a country we should call home. I mourn you so hard my friend

I will forever remember the moments we shared and the conversations we had. You had so much love to share with the world, Edwin. I am in pain, I am numb. I cry for your closest friends and family who experienced your love even closer. May they find peace in this moment.”

Makena also called upon politicians and organisations who support the queer community to stand with them and help the murders a year after Sheila Lumumba was killed for being queer.

“To the politicians that stand with us please walk with us boldy, to the allys that support us please talk about this loudly, to the companies, organisations and government bodies that feel our pain please stand with us. We need to put an end to all this queer suffering. Repeal 162 this is not a law it’s a weapon to murder innocent queer people,” she continued.

Catherine Kamau, also has joined other Kenyans in grieving the death of model Edwin Chiloba.

“I am so sorry 💔😔. My heart weeps for you . May your killers never know peace. Rest In Peace @its_edwinchiloba . 2023 wtf !!!!??? 🌈🙏🏽 #justiceforedwinchiloba,”.

Kenyans from all walks of life are also mourning the untimely demise of model and LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba.

The fashion guru was allegedly killed and his body stashed in a metallic box and dumped along the Kipenyo – Kaptinga road, in Kapsaret, Uasin Gishu County.

An eyewitness claims that the metal box was dropped in the area by a numberless car.

The matter was reported to Uasin Gishu police who arrived at the scene and upon opening the box, a decomposing body of a man dressed in a woman’s clothes was found inside.

It was later established that the deceased was Eldoret-based fashion designer Edwin Chiloba.

Following the confirmation, Kenyans took to social media to mourn Chiloba – many sharing memories they had with him.

Activist Njeri Wa Migwi eulogized the late Chiloba as a bold and passionate human being.

“Edwin Chiloba was an amazing human. He was bold and passionate, his energy was immaculate. He embodied fashion. Someone murdered him cruelly, put his body in a box & dumped his body.

“Edwin we speak your name. May yr blood not spill for nothing. Stop killing queer people,”

Another user Kevin Machiro wrote; “Stop killing queer people. Travel well, Edwin Chiloba,”.

A Twitter user by the name of Stephen Mutoro called upon DCI to investigate the murder.

“Intolerance behind the brutal killing of #LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba must be called out. His senseless killers stuffed his body in a metal box in Kapsaret, Uasin Gishu County. While the motive is unclear, I hope @DCI_Kenya will unravel the perpetrators. Condolences to his family,”.

An LGBTQ body – Black Pride and Equality Int condemned the brutal killing of Edwin Chiloba.

“@BPEI_Africa As an organization, we received the news of the brutal murder of our very own Edwin Chiloba in disbelief. His senseless killers stuffed his body in a metal box in Kenya- Kapsaret, Uasin Gishu County. We shall ensure Eddie gets justice as we accord him a decent send-off.🌈🌈🕊️🕊️🕊️,’ read the statement.
