A Laikipia shopkeeper’s humorous explanation of how Kenyans might budget their money during these difficult economic times has gone viral.
Anthony Kariuki has provided free financial counseling from the boundaries of his little shop on topics like the hustler fund and money management in advance of the fabled “90” days of January.
On December 1, Kariuki spoke with Kenyans.co.ke and described his comedic relief technique and easygoing personality.
“I think that sometimes people take life a bit too seriously at times. People should strike a balance between paying bills and living, that is all I advocate for,” he stated.
Kariuki, popularly known by his social media, Tony Mpole, revealed that he is a small-scale businessman and runs the shop that features in his videos.
“The shop is in Rumuruti and I sell basic commodities ranging from snacks to basic foodstuff such as maize and wheat flour as well as repackaged sugar.
“In the morning, I go for bread at the local bread depot which I sell to some of the shops within my locality,” he stated.
The soft-spoken content creator stated that he does the skits for leisure but was focused on growing his small shop into a renowned franchise.
“My business is everything I have because I was not fortunate to further my education. I have this interest since I was young and intend to make the most of it,” Kariuki explained.
His hobby has made him a social media sensation, amassing more than 35,000 followers on his TikTok account.
Several Kenyans have been trooping to his page him asking him for advice on planning their finances from investment savings.
