Nairobi residents were treated to a night of fantastic performances on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Sol Festival held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

Before the main performances, the boy band Sauti Sol, took the stage at the Sol Festival, organized by Sol Generation, guests were entertained by artists from all over the continent.

Despite being prohibited from attending the event, comedian Eric Omondi came only to be stopped by security at the gates.

Before being forced to leave, Eric appeared accompanied by Isikuti singers and dancers. However, after intervention from the event’s organizers, the self-declared president of comedy in Africa was finally permitted in.

Among artists that performed at the event include Tanzanian star Harmonize who is performing in the country again in less than a week.

Norway-based group Matata gave the fans a live performance of their collaboration ‘Oversized T-shirt’ from their album ‘Super Morio’. Accompanied by great dances, the group also thrilled with other hits such ‘Pombe na Kizungu Mingi’.

Others that took the stage at the event include rappers Juliani & Octopizzo, African Pop Star Nadia Mukami, Fena Gitu, Sol Generation’s Nviiri The Story Teller & Ben Soul as well South African amapiano star Costa Titch.

A section of fans however lamented the short performance by the night’s main act Sauti Sol.

According to attendees, the group took the stage at around 3 a.m. and left after thirty minutes.

This according to a section of KOT was not fair to the audience who were treated to a late and short performance by the Key organizers.

Sauti Sol’s Savara took to his Twitter account saying:

“Sauti Sol is the punching bag. Kama kawaida.”
And Kenyans reacted expressing their dissatisfaction on the comments.

@Lsankei99: No Savara. You can’t come in at 3AM, sing a handful of songs, change, have fireworks and photos then leave the stage all in less than 45 minutes. Like that was not fair to your audience at all. 3AM ? C’mon. Anyways, I enjoyed the set and loved the energy with balance❤️

@Likeswhisky: All these people came to see you perform and you did them a disservice coming in at 3am after being begged to come on stage. Accept feedback.

@Rasputin_24: Also what was that mess at ticketing?
Poor organisation overall.

@AlkebuLan_Ke: Ni ukweli you showed up so late adi Naivas 24hrs ilikua ishafunga?

@Karey_mwari: How do you perform at 3am for only 37mins. That’s underperforming and you know it. How come no one bashed you guys last year when you delivered
