Remembering Tahidi High’s Miss Morgan: Where is she today?

One of Kenya’s most gifted actresses is Angel Waruinge. She is renowned for being Tahidi High’s Miss Morgan.

Miss Morgan was a strict deputy principal in the high school play who hardly ever smiled. She did a superb job at her function.

She was not the kind to mess with, so the students kept their distance when she passed. Angel, on the other hand, is a calm, knowledgeable, and laid-back person.

Miss Morgan’s real name is Angel Waruinge. She is a passionate actress who fell in love with the world of theatre in her high school days. However, most people are unaware that the Tahidi High star and Daniel’ Churchill’ Ndambuki have been pals since she was in form two when the king of Kenyan comedy was fighting to make it in the industry.

They kept writing to each other, and Churchill first introduced her to the broader art world at Heartstrings (a production house that focused on plays). When Tahidi High called, the talented young lady had already performed in over 40 theatrical plays and earned a six-figure salary at the early age of eighteen.

The gifted actress also stated that she despises attention and is not a big user of social media. This is because she hates unwelcome attention and can’t bear being noticed so easily. So the only social app she uses is WhatsApp.

Is Miss Morgan married?

No, she planned to marry her baby daddy, but it did not work out because he was not the right man. They were engaged and planning to marry. But because she cancelled the engagement, he became an irresponsible father.

Elders warned her father against accepting the bride price. They advised him not to take the dowry due to his history with women; this was all true, as she later discovered.

According to the actor, she experienced a mental and identity crisis. Depression set in at this point, and she turned to alcohol for comfort.

She also stated that she is currently enrolled in a two-year psychology degree, which she says allows her to use her prior experiences to teach future generations.

Angel’s battle with depression and alcoholism has been well-documented; yet, what was never mentioned in any of the stories was how she managed to turn things around and avoid the dreaded “rock bottom.”

It was through actively involving her friends and colleagues and participating in mentorship program trips that she was able to achieve this.

The full-time performer also has a beautiful daughter, who she claimed proved essential in her recovery from depression.

The government has been concerned about the rising number of mental health-related cases in the country, such as depression and other mental diseases, some of which have resulted in suicide, as the then Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe remarked in July 2020.

Angel’s decision to start her show, leveraging her profile and vast network to create a platform where Kenyans may openly talk about mental health challenges, was spurred by this alarming trend.

Notably, the former star of Tahidi High is currently developing a new TV show. She divulged that some of it was shot in Mombasa, although keeping the cards a secret. Unfortunately, its progress was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic and various travel limitations, but the enthusiastic actor’s hope in describing it was unmistakable.
