President Museveni promotes his son Muhoozi to higher rank

Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni has elevated his son Muhoozi Kainerugaba to the rank of general on Tuesday, bringing more confusion.

This came after a string of contentious tweets in which he implied that it would only take him two weeks to seize Nairobi.

Muhoozi was demoted from his position as commander of the Uganda land troops, according to the Daily Monitor of Uganda.

However, according to some media outlets, he had been promoted to the position of Ugandan General.

The local media outlets stated that Kayanja Muhanga will succeed Muhoozi as the commander of the lands Forces as part of the apparent changes made on Tuesday.

Without a permanent assignment, Muhanga continues to serve as a special operations advisor.

In a previous tweet, Muhoozi said that after the argument brought on by his explosive comments, he had spoken with his father.

“Had a good discussion with my great father this morning. Apparently, my tweets scared Kenyans too much? He will announce the changes. There is a special prayer I shall make for our army,” he said.

In the changes, Kayanja Muhanga has been promoted to Lt Gen and appointed land forces commander.
