NTV Journalist Salim Swaleh lands lucrative Gov’t job

Salim Swaleh, a journalist for Nation Media Group, has earned a top position in the Nakuru County administration.

The NTV Swahili managing editor and anchor was appointed as the ICT, e-Government and Public Communication chief officer.

Mr. Swaleh was one of the 21 individuals whose names were sent to the county legislature for review.

The newscaster joined NTV in 2018, having previously worked for Citizen TV.

The Bondeni informal area in Nakuru is where Mr. Swaleh was raised.

In addition to Titus Cheboite Kigen of Nation Media Group in Nakuru, Mr. Martin Gichinga (director of communication), Mr. Kigotho Mwangi (deputy director of communication), and others have earned positions in Governor Susan Kihika’s government (photographer).

The names of former Nakuru Level Five Hospital superintendent John Murima and Nakuru County Assembly Clerk Joseph Mutua Malinda were also presented to the House for consideration as top officers of the Medical Services and Finance and Revenue Administration, respectively.

During the administrations of Governors Kinuthia Mbugua and Lee Kinyanjui, Mr. Malinda served as the assembly clerk.

According to a statement from Governor Kihika, “Twenty-one names judged appropriate [for advertised positions] have been forwarded to the county legislature for vetting and approval.”

This occurs two months after Governor Kihika took the oath of office and as she works to put together her administration.

The county manager, however, had a roadblock last week when the Employment and Labour Relations Court in Nakuru halted the screening of 10 County Executive Committee (CEC) member-nominees she had submitted to the court.
