He claimed that since he hasn’t worked for them since being elected, he is not entitled to his wage for September.

“My people of Kimilili, mulinipigia kura nashukuru. Tangu munichague hakuna kitu nimewafanyia (My people of Kimilili, I am grateful that you voted for me. Since then I haven’t done a thing for you),” he tweeted on Thursday.

“Sisitahili mushahara wowote, sasa ile millioni moja nimelipwa ya mwezi hii nitawaletea. Mukiniona tu nimeingia Kimilili mukuje muchukue na mugawane.”

In the general elections on August 9th, Barasa won re-election on the UDA ticket.

On September 8, he took the office oath.

Members of the National Assembly have been working hard to complete the mission assigned to them by President William Ruto, which is to reduce the 2022–2023 budget by Sh300 billion.

Additionally, Ruto wants the lawmakers to change the law to connect the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) with the Kenya Kwanza UHC plan and to support the Senate Oversight Fund and Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).

Barasa declared in his opening address to the 13th Parliament that they will prioritize the President’s agenda, starting with saving the NG-CDF.
