MP Babu Owino Starts Teaching Online Classes Again: “We will be handing class 4 to class 8”

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has announced a return to online revision lessons for students preparing for their final national examinations.

Taking to his social media on Sunday, where he streams the sessions, the legislator took Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates through a Mathematics class covering a topic on whole numbers and fractions.

The firebrand legislator started the one-hour revision sessions at the onset of Covid-19 to help learners who were away from school study.

Owino provides Maths and Chemistry lessons to both KCPE and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates.

“The main aim of why I am doing this is so that I can motivate our candidates to pass the examinations. Because if I came from Nyalenda slums selling chang’aa, then you as a candidate can also make it,” he said before starting his lesson.

He said that he will be handling other topics in subsequent lessons which will be done on a weekly basis from 7:30pm.

To further reach more students who are limited from accessing his online lessons, MP Owino said he will start moving to different regions in the country from January 2023.

“We will be handing class 4 to class 8 that is grade 4 to grade 6,” he said.

Babu holds four degrees, a First-Class Honors in Actuarial science, Second-Class Upper Division in LLB Law and two Master’s degrees, according to his Twitter account.

He sat his KCSE exams at Kisumu Boys High School where he scored an A- minus of 79 points.
