The Big Signing Bernard Ndong’ Officially Joins NTV after Leaving Citizen TV
We were all sad when celebrated sports journalist Bernard Ndong’ announced that he was leaving Citizen TV after 13 years of service.
The good thing is that our sadness is now over as Bernard is now back to screen.
He has found a new home in NTV, his ex-employer biggest competitor.
In a captivating TV advert that was posted on all NTV’s social media platforms, the media station announced that the brilliant journalist had joined their team, referring to him as the big signee.
The advert’s voice over all marketed him as “a trusted sports journalist with over a decade of experience covering the country and the world’s biggest sporting events. He is a reputed broadcaster who unpacks sporting action without objectivity, flare and a bit of spice.”
Bernard reposted the advert in his Instagram page with a caption saying,
“I’m back.”
His followers and fellow celebrities have come out in large numbers to congratulate him.
Actress Jacky Vike commented, “Aye! Have a good one Ndong”
Singer Kambua wrote, “You go friend.”
His fellow sports journalist, Carol Radul, commented, “Enjoy.”
On his last day airing at Citizen TV on June 25, Bernard gave out an emotional brief speech,, thanking his followers for supporting him for 13 years.
“It has been 13 years. It has been a journey. Thank you so much, I am humbled. 13 years have been a journey and a half. This is Bernard Ndong signing off for the final time,” he said emotionally.
As it is a norm in Citizen TV, he was celebrated by his fellow anchors, who brought him a cake. Those who could not make it to the broadcast sent him emotional messages wishing him the best.
Mike Okinyi recalled how they started working together by saying, ““Bernard, I know this one catches you by surprise. There was lunch by then there is this. It’s been a roller coaster with you on the desk from the first day that you came from sales and we went to the studio with Kirigo Ng’arua do a screen test and you asked, ‘can I join?’ and I said please come. It was three weeks of hard training.”
Mukami Wambura recalled how he helped her become one of the female sports journalist. She said,
“I am not a trained journalist, I just have a passion for sports. I came in completely raw and Mike and Benard, you guys had to teach me how to script and edit from the very beginning and I have never felt so supported within a team. You’ve been such a cheerleader for me and you have played such a big role in my career and you are also such an amazing human being.”
