Tuju Reveals They Will Go to Exile With Kinoti if Ruto Becomes President

Raphael Tuju, the executive director of Azimio, has said that he would leave the nation if William Ruto, the vice president, wins the presidential election on August 9.

The former secretary general of the Jubilee Party explained why he sought asylum abroad to Weru TV, citing his tense relationship with the DP.

“I think someone like DCI boss (George) Kinoti and Raphael Tuju will seek to relocate to another country. In fact, Kinoti will be forced into exile. I can say that without risk of contradiction,” he stated

Tuju, who worked for President Uhuru Kenyatta as a Cabinet Secretary without portfolio, defended Kinoti after he came under fire for the detention of three Venezuelan nationals at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) hired Kinoti as an information technology consultant to help it run elections, and he was accused of harassing those individuals.

Wafula Chebukati, the chairperson of the IEBC, contended that the three are workers of Smartmatic, the organization in charge of providing Kiems kits in the nation during electronic voting.

Tuju said that Kinoti was carrying out his responsibilities and shouldn’t be pressured to budge.

“We are safe in this country because of people like Kinoti and his team,” Tuju maintained, accusing Ruto of overstepping his mandate by responding to a letter that Kinoti had addressed to IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati.

“We know some commissioners have issues, but we must help build our institutions, and we do not want to tear it apart. In case of issues, it is the work of Kinoti to find out,” he added.

The former KTN journalist also denied rumors that President Uhuru would have an impact on decisions if Raila Odinga wins the election on August 9.

Tuju compared Raila’s leadership to that of the late former President Mwai Kibaki, who would prioritize transforming the nation’s economic outlook and leaving a development legacy.
