Mixed reactions as Gachagua says he doesn’t know kerosene’s price: “I don’t go to the supermarket”

Rigathi Gachagua, the running mate for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, claimed that he does not frequent supermarkets and hence is unaware of the cost of kerosene.

Gachagua was speaking at the Catholic University of East Africa’s debate amongst the running mates (CUEA).

Gachagua appeared to be ignorant of the cost of essential home necessities like kerosene, despite the growing expense of living.

When the interviewer asked:

“What’s the cost of milk today?”

Gachagua responded, saying:

“The farmer sells at KSh 42 and the Supermarkets; some places are KSh 120/= per litre, others are KSh 130/= depending on where it is.”

In a separate question, the vocal debator was asked if he was aware of the cost of Kerosene – “What is the cost of kerosene today?”

Gachagua hilariously replied saying he doesn’t visit superarkets.

“I do not go to the supermarket,” Gachagua said.
