List of presidential aspirants disqualified by the IEBC

The IEBC has been conducting checks on the aspirants who intended to vie for the president in the August 9 elections and a number of them have been disqualified, approving only 4 candidates for the final ballot.

Independent presidential candidates have all been disqualified from the race.

Muthiora Eliud Kiriara on Monday became the last candidate to have his application rejected after failing to pass the IEBC test.

Commission’s chairperson Wafula Chebukati said the candidate submitted “a bundle of copies of ID cards for unspecified counties”.

Out of the 20 supporters’ list which he submitted, Chebukati said, only 19 counties were found to be compliant with the set regulations.

His running mate, he added, did not have a signed code of conduct which is one of the mandatory documents required for clearance.

Others are Gibson Ngaruiya, Dorothy Kemunto, James Kamau, Jeremiah Nyaga, Jane Juliet Munyeki, Peter Kingori, and George Munyotta.

Ford Asili candidate Njeru Kathangu failed to appear before the vetting panel leading to his disqualification.
