Government Chief Pathologist Johansen Oduor on Wednesday announced details of an autopsy carried out on the bodies of Joyce Syombua and her two children – Shanice Maua and Prince Michael.
The post-mortem result cast a picture of a painful murder which involved the children being strangled to their death. The boys’ mother, died as a result of a head injury.
The three were reported missing in late October after Syombua traveled from her Nairobi home to Nanyuki to visit her estranged husband and the father of her children, Major Paul Mugure.
Major Mugure has since been arrested in connection with the murder and subsequently dismissed from the Kenya Defense Forces where he had worked as a senior officer in the Kenya Air Force’s Nanyuki Barracks.
The deceased bodies were discovered last weekend, having been stuffed in gunny bags at an old cemetery near Nanyuki town.
Mugure is still being held in state custody after the Police requested for twenty one days to complete their investigations.
